Scalles in Carlisle

Scales is the standard friendly restaurant locals eat at for quick meals at good prices. Up front they can fill growlers, sell 6-packs of beer, and offer a wide menu of traditional favorites. Last meal there was a cheeseburger sub, with lettuce and mayo, and a side of curly fries.

One of my absolute favorite restaurants in the central PA area. Been going here for about 20 years. Fast, yummy diner style food in a much more stylish warehouse. Great prices and terrific service. Nice place to chat over a meal.

Love the interior of the historic building! The staff was very friendly with great service! I am vegan and was looking for vegan food traveling through the area. Their veggie burger was great!

Incredibly fast service. Excellent sandwich menu and friendly service. The space is small but cozy. There is something available for everyone at this restaurant. The front entrance also has a nice selection of beers and ciders for 6 packs. I highly recommend this stop for family outings or a quick bite with colleagues for lunch.

Great portions, fast & friendly service and the food is great! Their fries are really good! I had the Moby sandwich. It's huge! Be ready for busy because people really like this place!

I've been going here since I was a little kid. I remember getting a bowl of chili in the winter months, and visiting here recently was brought back nostalgia. Scalles is a one of a kind restaurant that packs a big homemade punch to your taste buds. Their Rubens, Chili and other soups are a welcoming feat to the historic town of Carlisle.

Good food, really nice people. Please be patient with wait times because of covid. Table have lots of space between other tables and out door seating. I recomend the chicken cheese steak and the funnel cake. Good job keep up the great service.

A well lit & well stocked beer wall made me smile. I ordered a 6 inch Hero sub and it was stuffed with deli meats, two seasoned slices of tomato on top, just perfect :)

AWESOME ENVIRONMENT!! the building is super old and you can see the original wood and brickwork in the walls, but it's not dirty. It's really neat! Food was great, service was fantastic. Will definitely return!

Our favorite place for lunch, we even drive hours from out of town for a treat, now that we moved. Best chicken salad pita melt in the world! Friendly staff and quick service, too.

We didn't get there until 9:30 at night. The food was outstanding, the service was amazing, and we left with our bellies stuffed. Wonderful place!

Sweet mom and pop restaurant. Everyone is so sweet! Sunday lunch time is super busy, so come early or later. Food is always really good!

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Carlisle.

Service has always been very friendly. Food is delicious and doesn't break the bank. The menu is delightfully different. Something for everyone. Giant cooler full of beer from Meister Brow to Premium IPA as you walk in; Grab one, grab a seat, order some Chow and enjoy your meal. Good time every time.

Friendly staff, was served good within 10 minutes even with a 100% full dining room! Food was good, a little pricy for the amount you get, but overall a great dining choice.

I was there for my 1st time and I loved it. Atmosphere was calm and quiet. The inside of the place very cozy. The food was good, waitress was very quick and friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone. I will be going back.

Scalles has been a community favorite in Carlisle, Pa for years. They have the BEST chicken corn soup around! The setting is beautiful as the building is a converted grain warehouse, with wooden beams. The food is good, service is very quick, and you can even purchase a six pack or wine to go. Although the do serve platters, they're sandwiches and fries are bangin!

Try the pepper jack melt, and add a veggie burger and onions to it.... so yummy. Thanks Scalles for always being so good!We always get your corn fritters - they keep us coming back.

We had an impromptu gathering of a dozen cousins on Friday at 12:30. We didn't have a reservation, but the staff quickly arranged a few tables so we could be seated. The food was delicious, and the service was awesome. We will definitely go back!

Have eaten here before and food great. However today my fish was over cookedI would not have served it. Not sure what was going on with the cook. I did not have time to re-order. This one time experience, will not keep me from going back. Food too good before to stop going.

Worst dining and food experience ever. Our fries were brought to our table way before the sandwiches did. By the time food got there they were cold. They should have been under a heat lamp till other food was ready at the very least. Server couldn't care less. There was so much mayo on the sandwiches on both sides of bun it was nasty. I will never be back.

I think live in a politically correct world where folks are afraid to tell the truth when asked "How was everything?" So far I've been pleased with this place. Clean facility, good service, good food. Their food in general has been far too good for the bowl of ultra bland institutional type macaroni and cheese I had there today. I've felt each time I go there like I can't wait to try everything on their menu. After that macaroni and cheese, I'll move forward with lowered expectations.
